The Marke & Tabitha Supa Smoothie

Super smoothie: Read below.

I am inspired. I am enabled.

Eating healthy, fresh, varied food has always been a great interest of mine - and now that I have food stamps, I buy fresh avocados, bell peppers, and chocolate milk. Good. I've actually lost body fat because I'm eating so much healthier!

I want to go on a raw food cleanse. Did you know that when food is cooked, essential amino acids necessary to your body are destroyed and unusable? You are less likely to be ill. No wonder people who go on a raw food cleanse say they feel so much better. Note: Smoothies are uncooked :)

Super Smoothie:
My friend Marke (the Vespa scooter guy from OKC) inspired me to begin eating quite healthfully. Tabitha supports me. And hopefully I'll start feeling better soon!
Ingredients can be purchased at any grocer with a health foods section. Here's how to take a normal at-home smoothie and jazz it up to boost your body:

Base: Frozen fruits of any kind. You are encouraged to add greens like celery and spinach... I'm not ready for that yet.

.
.

Liquids: Kefir and milk. Kefir is like plain yogurt on steroids. It is SO healthy for you! Because of its tart nature, use honey or agave nectar to sweeten it up. Again, these natural sweeteners are much more beneficial than standard sugar.

The Good Stuff: Here's where it gets tricky... And you get healthy. I am giving a short sum of some additives. When making your smoothie, add the ingredients one at a time and taste between to be certain you like how the flavor morphs.

Flax seed or powder. Think: OMEGA-3! It's the non-animal product mode to intake massive amounts of your omegas. Fiber and protein count is huge. It's also an antioxidant. If you purchase the seed, you must grind it before eating in order to digest.

Chia. Yes, like the Cha-Cha-Cha-Chia! on the commercials. Dubbed a "superfood," this stuff gives great energy including for Aztec warriors. Many athletes eat it for an extra boost. High in fiber. Bonus: It expands when wet. Eat some chia 20 minutes before eating and you will feel less hungry. A cheap weight-loss trick.

Maca. Another "superfood" and energy booster. It rebuilds your adrenal glands and helps out your thyroids. It has a chalky texture, so add it to your smoothie slowly.

Coconut water (The liquid in a coconut)
Coconut meat
Dried unsweetened coconut
Cacao powder or nibs (essentially bitter cocoa powder)

Leave a comment if this was helpful or you have another favorite smoothie ingredient to mention!

  1. Well look at you go! Here's the one I've been drinking the past several days which I LOVE:

    1-2 frozen bananas, sliced
    1 handful frozen blueberries
1 big handful baby spinach leaves
    1 tbsp ground flax seeds
    2 tsp cacao powder (optional)
app. 1 cup of water (or 1/2 water, 1/2 nut milk)

Puts a smile on my face!

  2. Sounds stellar. I am a fan particularly of the blackberries I pick each winter and then freeze. Their overpowering taste makes the smoothie killer!
